1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup white granulated sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit (150 Celsius).

2

In a medium bowl, add 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter and 1/4 cup of white granulated sugar.

3

Mix the butter and sugar together until creamy.

4

Add in 1 cup of all-purpose flour and mix it together using a fork or pastry blender.

5

Use clean hands to mix the dough until well combined.

6

Take a candy bar pan or granola bar pan and press the dough into it evenly.

7

Use the back of a spoon or a small cake spatula to press the dough down.

8

Poke holes in the dough with a wooden skewer or toothpick to allow steam to escape while baking.

9

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 35 minutes until lightly golden brown.

10

Once baked, let the shortbread cool for 15 to 20 minutes.

11

If desired, poke the holes again with a toothpick after removing from the oven to maintain the classic look.

12

Carefully remove the shortbread from the molds; they may be soft and can break easily.
