1

Start by heating 1 liter of milk in a pot over medium heat.

2

Add 1/2 cup of brown sugar to the milk and stir until dissolved.

3

Add a generous cinnamon stick, 2 orange peels, 2 cloves, and some nutmeg to the pot.

4

Also, add approximately 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.

5

Let the mixture simmer gently for about 5 minutes without boiling.

6

After 5 minutes, turn off the heat and add 1 can of sweetened condensed milk to the mixture, stirring well.

7

Next, add 2 tablespoons of coffee to the mixture and stir to combine.

8

Prepare a cold container with plenty of ice to cool down the mixture.

9

Using a fine strainer or surgical gauze, strain the mixture to remove the spices and orange peels, letting it cool in the ice.

10

Once the mixture has cooled and stopped steaming, add 1 cup of aguardiente or pisco, mixing well.

11

Bottle the cola de mono and chill it in the refrigerator until serving.

12

Serve the cola de mono in a nice glass, ideally very cold, and accompany it with pan de pascua and fresh fruits.
