Traditionally enjoyed during harvest festivals, this cake celebrates the sweet, juicy peaches that flourish in the warm months. Today, variations abound, with recipes including different fruits or toppings, making it a beloved treat in many cultures around the world.

Nectarines provide a similar flavor and texture.
Gather all ingredients: self-raising flour, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, plain yogurt, a pinch of salt, and peaches.
If using fresh peaches, prepare them; if using canned, have them ready.
In a mixing bowl, add 180 g of self-raising flour, 170 g of unsalted butter, and 150 g of granulated sugar.
Mix these ingredients together until well combined.
Add 2 large eggs to the mixture and continue mixing.
Incorporate a couple of small pots of plain yogurt into the batter.
Add a pinch of salt to the mixture and mix until combined.
Add a spoonful of peaches to the batter to infuse a peach flavor throughout.
Pour the batter into a prepared cake pan.
Arrange the remaining peaches on top of the batter.
Optionally, sprinkle brown sugar on top for a crusty finish.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).
Bake the cake for about 40 minutes, checking for doneness.
Let the cake cool before serving.
