4 servings
Servings4
2 lbs tofu firm, cut into bite-sized cubes
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 small bell peppers diced
3 stalks spring onion chopped
4 cloves garlic minced
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp white wine
2 tbsp water
ยผ tsp ground ginger
ยผ tsp crushed red pepper
1 tbsp cornstarch
1

Start by draining your firm tofu. Place it between two paper towels and press gently to remove excess water. Then, cut it into bite-sized cubes.

2

Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 375ยฐF. Adjust the temperature based on how crispy or soft you want your tofu.

3

Carefully add the tofu cubes to the oil, one by one, without overcrowding the pan to ensure even browning. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, flipping occasionally, until they are golden brown.

4

Add minced garlic to the pan and stir for about a minute until fragrant. Then, add bell peppers, roasted peanuts, and spring onions, sautรฉing for 3 to 4 minutes.

5

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, white wine, water, ground ginger, crushed red pepper, and cornstarch to make the sauce.

6

Pour the sauce mixture into the pan, stirring constantly, and cook until it begins to thicken slightly.

7

Serve your delicious Kung Pao tofu hot over rice or noodles. Enjoy!
