Today, it has gained popularity beyond Ghana, with variations appearing in West African cuisine, showcasing the adaptability of this flavorful soup.

Start by cooking carrots, garden eggs, fresh pepper, fresh tomatoes, and 1 medium-sized onion in a pot with water until soft.
Add roasted chicken to a big pot along with optional beef, tomato paste, chopped onions, chicken seasoning, pepper soup spice mix, garlic and ginger paste, and salt.
Pour in water and cook until the chicken is juicy, about 10-15 minutes, mixing occasionally.
Blend the cooked vegetables off camera and pour into the soup base.
Add more water to adjust the consistency of the soup, mix well, and cover to cook until halfway done.
Add extra mael for sweetness, mix again, and cover to cook until the soup is ready.
