They are made by coating apples in a sticky caramel sauce, often enjoyed at fairs and festivals. The combination of sweet caramel and crisp apples creates a delightful contrast that appeals to both children and adults.

Coconut cream is dairy-free and lower in calories.
Add 0.25 cup of sugar at a time to a saucepan and stir until dissolved.
Continue adding sugar until all is dissolved and the temperature reaches 155 degrees Celsius.
Add 1.5 cups of heavy cream slowly, being careful of the steam.
Add 0.5 cup of butter and bring the mixture back up to 128 degrees Celsius.
Turn off the burner and add vanilla extract.
Wait approximately 10 minutes for the caramel to cool slightly and thicken.
Prepare the apples by removing the wax: place them in boiling water for 1 minute and wipe off the wax vigorously.
Insert a pointed wooden stick straight down into the core of each apple.
Dip the prepared apples into the caramel and hold while the excess caramel falls away.
Once the caramel cools and comes away easily from parchment paper, use scissors to cut away the extra caramel.
Temper your favorite chocolate in a bowl and dip the apples when fully cooled.
Cut up Oreo cookies to decorate the apples or use any favorite toppings.
