1

Welcome to the channel, today we will make dal bhat.

2

For the recipe, I've taken tuver dal and rice, along with peanuts, mustard oil, tamala leaves, dried red chilies, cloves, turmeric powder, cumin powder, chili powder, fenugreek, mustard seeds, tomatoes, sweet lemon leaves, green coriander, a piece of ginger, green chilies, and lemon.

3

Rinse the rice (300 g) and tuver dal (200 g) in 2-3 changes of water until the water runs clear.

4

After rinsing, soak the rice and dal in water for 30 minutes to allow them to swell.

5

Chop the green coriander and green chilies finely, and also chop the piece of ginger for grinding later.

6

In a pressure cooker, drain the water from the dal and add 3 cups of water to it.

7

Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric and 1 tablespoon of salt to the dal and mix well.

8

For the rice, add 4 cups of water to the 2 cups of rice, and add 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to keep the rice white.

9

Put both the dal and rice on to cook in the pressure cooker.

10

After 4 whistles, the dal is ready, and the rice is half cooked.

11

Check the dal, and add 200 g of chopped tomatoes to it.

12

Add 1 cup of water and blend the mixture slightly in a grinder, keeping some tomato chunks intact.

13

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan, and once hot, add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and let them sizzle.

14

Add the dried red chilies, green chilies, and ginger, and sauté for a moment.

15

Mix the tempered spices with the dal, and add 1 cup of water to the dal mixture.

16

Add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of chili powder, and 1 teaspoon of cumin powder to the dal and mix well.

17

Add 50 g of jaggery and adjust salt to taste, as some was added earlier.

18

Let the dal simmer for 5-6 minutes until it thickens and the peanuts swell up.

19

Finally, add the chopped fresh coriander leaves and mix well before serving.
