Prepare the pumpkin by peeling and cutting it into small pieces.
Steam the pumpkin until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Mash the steamed pumpkin until smooth and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, sugar, and spices.
Add the mashed pumpkin to the cornmeal mixture and mix well.
In a separate bowl, mix melted butter, milk, and vanilla until combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
Fold in the coconut and raisins gently.
Spoon the mixture into banana leaves or parchment paper, wrapping them securely.
Place the wrapped conkies in a steamer and steam for about 45-60 minutes.
Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean.
Remove from the steamer and let cool before unwrapping.
