Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Prepare the bacon and sausage by placing them in the oven to cook.
Start cooking the grits by adding 4 cups of water to a pot and bringing it to a boil.
Add 1 cup of grits and 1/2 stick of butter to the boiling water, along with salt to taste.
Stir the grits well to avoid lumps and let them cook for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Chop the potatoes into bite-sized pieces and prepare the onions and green bell pepper.
In a skillet, sauté the chopped onions and green bell pepper until softened.
Add the chopped potatoes to the skillet and season with salt and pepper, cooking on high heat to brown them.
Cover the skillet to allow the potatoes to steam and soften after browning one side.
While the potatoes are cooking, prepare the fried apples by melting 1/2 stick of butter in a separate pan.
Add the sliced Granny Smith apples to the melted butter, along with sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
Cook the apples until they are tender, adding more butter if needed to keep them moist and flavorful.
Once the bacon and sausage are cooked, remove them from the oven and keep warm until serving.
Check the grits for creaminess and add more water if they become too thick, stirring well.
Finish cooking the potatoes until they are golden brown and tender, then serve alongside the grits, fried apples, bacon, and sausage.
