Originating from Bologna, Italy, Spaghetti Bolognese is a beloved dish that showcases the rich flavors of slow-cooked meat sauce. Traditionally served with tagliatelle, the dish has evolved globally, often paired with spaghetti in many countries. Its comforting nature makes it a family favorite, celebrated for its hearty ingredients and robust taste.

Fresh tomatoes add brightness, while crushed are often cheaper.
Rough chop 3 cloves of garlic.
Dice 1 onion and transfer it to a plate.
Pour a little extra virgin olive oil into a pot and add the diced onion.
Add the minced garlic to the pot with the onion.
Put water on the stove to boil for the spaghetti and cover it.
Once the onion and garlic are caramelized, add bay leaves and a sprig of thyme to the pot.
Add 1 pound of ground beef to the pot and season with a generous amount of salt and black pepper, as well as all-purpose seasoning.
Pour in homemade pasta sauce and add water to the jar to get all the sauce out, then add that water to the pot.
Add 4 basil leaves and cover the pot to let it simmer.
Once the water for the spaghetti is boiling, add a generous amount of salt and a splash of olive oil to prevent sticking.
Drop the spaghetti into the boiling water and cover it to cook.
Once the sauce is cooked, add chopped parsley to the sauce.
Scoop some sauce aside for topping later.
Transfer the cooked spaghetti into the sauce and toss to combine well.
Grate Parmesan cheese over the spaghetti and let it melt using residual heat from the stove.
Serve the spaghetti topped with the reserved sauce and additional grated Parmesan cheese, and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
