1 tbsp oyster sauce
0.5 tsp salt

Shaoxing wine

🥗Healthier: rice vinegar

💰Cheaper: white wine

Rice vinegar provides acidity while white wine is a more accessible option.

chicken

🥗Healthier: tofu

💰Cheaper: pork

Tofu is a lower-calorie protein, while pork can be a more economical meat choice.

1

Prepare the sauce by adding 2 tbsp of water, 2 tbsp of Chinese cooking wine, 1 tbsp of oyster sauce, 0.5 tsp of salt, a few dashes of white pepper, and 1 tsp of corn flour into a bowl and mix well.

2

Add in 2 whole chicken legs (approximately 220g each) into the sauce, ensuring they are well coated.

3

If desired, make cuts in the chicken to allow the marinade to penetrate, but keep the skin on for presentation.

4

Marinate the chicken in the same steaming plate to avoid extra dishes, ensuring they do not overlap.

5

Add 3 pieces of Angelica Roots on top of the chicken, sprinkle 1 tsp of wolfberries, and spread 5g of julienned young ginger over the chicken.

6

If time allows, marinate for about 20 minutes; if not, you can steam immediately.

7

Use a rice cooker to steam the chicken while cooking rice simultaneously, placing the steaming tray with the chicken inside the rice cooker.

8

Cover and steam the chicken for approximately 15 to 20 minutes on the stovetop if not using a rice cooker.

9

To check if the chicken is cooked, poke through the thickest part with a sharp knife or skewer; if no reddish liquid comes out, the chicken is done.

10

Once cooked, serve and enjoy the dish.
