In a dry skillet over medium heat, add the cumin seeds and toast them for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

Add the coriander seeds to the skillet and continue to toast for another 2-3 minutes.

Next, add the black peppercorns, cardamom pods, and cloves to the skillet. Toast for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.

Remove the skillet from heat and let the spices cool completely.

Once cooled, transfer the toasted spices to a spice grinder or a mortar and pestle.
