Texas Sheet Cake

2.5 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 stick butter
0.5 cup oil
1 cup water
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1.5 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2/3 cup buttermilk
6 tablespoons butter (for icing)
1 cup packed light brown sugar
0.5 cup milk
4.5 cups powdered sugar

Start with 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour and add 2 cups of sugar, then set aside.

In a saucepan, add 1 stick of butter, 0.5 cup of oil, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil.

Pour the boiling mixture into the flour and sugar mixture.

Add 2 large eggs, 2 teaspoons of vanilla, 1.5 teaspoons of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 2/3 cup of buttermilk to the mixture.

Mix for about 2 to 3 minutes.

Pour the batter onto a sheet pan that has been sprayed with nonstick spray.

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 to 25 minutes.

Once baked, let the sheet cake cool. It will have a swirl in the middle.

For the icing, start with 6 tablespoons of butter and 1 cup of packed light brown sugar, bringing it to a boil and letting it thicken a little.

Remove from heat and let it sit for about 5 minutes to cool.

Add 0.5 cup of milk to the mixture and then pour it into 4.5 cups of powdered sugar.

Pour the icing over the top of the cake. As it cools, it will create a crispy texture.
