In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of sugar, 2 cups of flour, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

Melt 2 sticks of butter in a saucepan.

Add 4 heaping tablespoons of cocoa powder to the melted butter and mix until combined.

Pour in 1 cup of boiling water and let it boil for 30 seconds.

Pour the cocoa water butter mixture over the flour and sugar mixture and stir to cool it down.

In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup of buttermilk, 2 beaten eggs, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and stir.

Mix the milk and egg mixture into the rest of the ingredients until well combined.

Pour the batter into a USA pan half sheet pan.

Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

For the frosting, melt 14 tablespoons of butter.

Add 4 heaping tablespoons of cocoa powder to the melted butter and mix.

Stir in 6 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Add 3 1/2 cups of powdered sugar to the frosting and mix until smooth.

Remove the cake from the oven while it's still warm and pour the frosting over it.

Toast 1/2 cup of chopped pecans and sprinkle them over the top of the frosted cake.
