Preheat the oven to 350°.

Butter and line a 9x13 cake pan with parchment paper.

Toast 1/2 cup pecans for 10 minutes at 350°.

In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Whisk and set aside.

In a microwaveable measuring cup, combine 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup oil, 4 oz chocolate chips, and 8 tablespoons butter. Microwave for 40 seconds and whisk before setting aside.

In a small bowl, beat 1 egg, 1 egg yolk, 1/8 cup sour cream, and 1 teaspoon vanilla.

Mix the flour mixture and chocolate mixture together, then whisk in the egg mixture until smooth and well combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 20 minutes.

In a small bowl, combine 4 tablespoons butter, 1/4 cup cocoa, 1/4 cup cream, and 1 teaspoon corn syrup. Microwave for 40 seconds and whisk until smooth.

Add in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar to the icing mixture and whisk until smooth.

Pour the icing over the cake and top with chopped pecans.

Allow to cool for 1 hour before chilling in the refrigerator for 1 hour before serving.
