1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup cocoa powder (for icing)
1/4 cup butter (for icing)
1/4 tsp salt (for icing)
3 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
1/2 cup pecans (for icing)

Melt 1 cup of butter in a saucepan.

Add 1/4 cup cocoa powder and 1/4 cup hot water to the melted butter.

Heat the mixture in the microwave for 45 seconds, then stir and bring to a boil for 30 seconds.

Pour the chocolate mixture over the dry ingredients (flour and sugar).

In a separate bowl, mix together 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1 egg, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
