Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, combine the sourdough discard, milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- 2In another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- 3Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- 4Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or oil.
- 5Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
- 6Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.
- 7Flip the pancakes and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- 8Remove from the skillet and keep warm while you repeat with the remaining batter.
- 9Serve warm with your favorite toppings such as syrup, fruit, or yogurt.

- 4Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- 6Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
- 7Place the shaped dough into a greased loaf pan and cover again to rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- 8Sprinkle sesame seeds, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried herbs on top of the loaf.
- 9Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- 10Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
