Melt dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth, stirring every 30 seconds.
Add butter to the melted chocolate and mix until fully combined.
Stir in vanilla extract until incorporated.
In a large bowl, combine marshmallows and crushed nuts.
Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the marshmallow mixture and stir until well coated.
Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes until firm.
Once firm, scoop out small portions and roll them into balls.
Roll each truffle in coconut flakes or crushed nuts to coat.
Place the coated truffles on a parchment-lined tray.
Chill again for about 15 minutes to set the coating.
Serve chilled or at room temperature.
