Mushroom and Chicken Wonton

Cultural Context

Wontons are a beloved part of Chinese cuisine, originating from the northern regions where they are often served in broth or as a standalone dish. Traditionally made for special occasions, they symbolize wealth and prosperity due to their shape resembling ancient gold ingots. Today, wontons have found their way into various culinary traditions worldwide, often filled with diverse ingredients beyond the classic pork and shrimp.
