Mix in 1 cup of chopped pecans and 2 tablespoons of corn starch to the filling.
Pour the filling into the prepared pie shell.
Cut a vent in the top crust and place it over the filling.
Seal the edges of the crust together.
Brush the top crust with an egg wash made from 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of cream.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake the pie for approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, covering with aluminum foil halfway through to prevent over-browning.
Let the pie cool for at least 8 hours before slicing.
