Soak wheat berries in cold water for a few hours to reduce cooking time.

Rinse soaked wheat berries and put them in a pot with fresh water.

Cook wheat berries until soft, about 30 minutes, then drain.

Put ground poppy seeds in another pot and add just enough hot water to cover them.

Bring poppy seeds to a boil on low heat, then turn off the heat and cover the pot to let them absorb water.

Soak raisins in hot water for 15 minutes.

Chop walnuts and almonds into small pieces; optionally roast them in a dry pan to enhance flavor.

Combine cooked wheat berries and poppy seeds in a pot with honey, soaked raisins, and chopped nuts.

Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract and stir vigorously until the mixture has a thick soup consistency.

Put the pot back on low heat and let it simmer for a few more minutes, then cover and set aside to cool completely before serving.
