Ingredients

  • 4 ripe guavas
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. 1Wash the guavas thoroughly and cut them in half.
  2. 2In a saucepan, combine the guavas, sugar, and water.
  3. 3Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  4. 4Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, mashing the guavas with a spoon to release their juices.
  5. 5Add the lemon juice and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes.
  6. 6Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly.
  7. 7Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a clean jar, discarding the solids.
  8. 8Allow the syrup to cool completely before sealing the jar.
  9. 9Store the guava syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

  1. 1In a pitcher, combine guava juice, water, fresh lime juice, chili powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. 2Stir the mixture well until the sugar and salt are dissolved.
  3. 3Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness or spiciness by adding more sugar or chili powder if desired.
  4. 4If you want a spiced rim, moisten the rim of your glasses with lime juice and dip them in chili powder.
  5. 5Fill the glasses with ice cubes.
  6. 6Pour the guava drink mixture over the ice in each glass.
  7. 7Garnish with lime slices on the rim of the glasses.
