Soak 3/4 cups of soup mix (barley, split peas, lentils) in water for about an hour, then rinse.

Add a few pieces of meat for flavor, along with all spice and cloves, to a pot.

Add the soaked soup mixture and enough water to cover, then bring to a boil.

Chop celery, parsley, half an onion, one potato, one tomato, garlic, ginger, and carrots.

Liquidize half of the chopped vegetables with 1 cup of water until smooth.

Add the remaining vegetables to the liquidizer with another cup of water and blend.

Once the soup mixture is boiling, add the liquidized vegetables to the pot all at once.

Simmer the soup for a minimum of 2 hours, adding more water as needed to keep it from drying out.

Season with salt and pepper to taste, adding a vegetable cube if desired.

After 2.5 hours, check that the meat is tender and the soup is ready.
