Almonds are often more accessible and affordable.
Start by chopping half a cup of small raisins into smaller pieces.
Pour half a cup of rum over the chopped raisins and let them soak for a bit.
Use a food processor to crush the graham crackers until fine, or place them in a Ziploc bag and crush them with a meat tenderizer.
Add the crushed graham crackers to the food processor.
Add one cup of walnuts to the food processor.
Break two bars of milk chocolate into small pieces and add them to the food processor.
Mix the ingredients in the food processor on low until the chocolate is broken into small pieces and the mixture starts to stick together.
Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add half a cup of powdered sugar, mixing well.
Add the bowl of soaked raisins and rum to the mixture and mix until well combined.
Prepare a tray with unsweetened coconut for rolling the rum balls.
Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls, then roll each ball in the coconut to coat.
Place the rum balls on a tray and cover them with a lid or plastic wrap to refrigerate.
Let the rum balls chill in the fridge to firm up, ideally for a few days for better flavor.
