French Breakfast

Cultural Context

French breakfast is often a light and leisurely affair, emphasizing quality over quantity. Traditionally, it includes fresh pastries like croissants and baguettes, paired with coffee or tea. This meal reflects the French art of living, where food is enjoyed as part of daily life. Modern variations may include more substantial options like yogurt and fresh fruit, catering to diverse tastes and dietary preferences.

300 ml of double cream
600 ml of milk
2 cinnamon sticks
4 tbsp of cocoa powder
2 tsp of vanilla essence
100 g of dark chocolate (finely chopped)

1

Make the crepe: In a bowl, crack the eggs and add the milk, whisk together.

2

Carefully add the flour and mix it in thoroughly.

Now add the salt, baking soda, and sugar, and mix in.

Heat up a non-stick frying pan and add a knob of butter.

Bring this to a boil and then simmer for 5 minutes.

Remove the cinnamon sticks and add the chopped chocolate and cocoa powder.

11
