1

Start with the broth by boiling half a chicken with bones and skin, cumin, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, cloves, peppercorns, and tomato.

2

Add ginger and garlic to the broth, along with salt and black pepper.

3

Bring the broth to a boil and then cook it slowly until the meat is very tender.

4

Remove the bones from the chicken once tender, using a wooden spoon to help.

5

In the same pan, add less than a tablespoon of oil and sauté chopped onions for about a minute.

6

Add a little cumin and pilow seasoning to the onions and sauté for a few minutes without burning them.

7

Add the ginger and garlic to the sautéed onions and cook for a few minutes.

8

Pour in the prepared broth with the chicken pieces.

9

Add about five to six tablespoons of tightly packed instant oats to the broth for thickness, adjusting to desired consistency.

10

Add cilantro (optional) and lemon juice to the mixture, along with black pepper to taste.

11

Cover and cook for 30 to 40 minutes until ready to serve.
