2 liters water
1/4 teaspoon salt

Rinse 1 cup of barley a couple of times.

Soak the rinsed barley in water for a minimum of 3 hours.

After soaking, rinse the barley one more time.

Put 2 liters of water in a pot and add 1/4 teaspoon of salt and pandan leaf.

Bring the water to a boil.

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour until barley is soft.

Remove the pandan leaf and let the barley water cool down.

Serve hot or cold, optionally sweetened with syrup.
