Salt & Pepper Baby Squid

500g baby squid, cleaned
2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup green onions, chopped

In a bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, and chili powder (if using).

In another bowl, mix the cornstarch and all-purpose flour together.

Toss the cleaned baby squid in the salt and pepper mixture until evenly coated.

Dredge the squid in the cornstarch and flour mixture, shaking off any excess.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 180°C (350°F).

Carefully add the coated squid to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.

Remove the squid with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
