Measure 2 cups of brown rice for the rice cooker.

Rinse the brown rice thoroughly until the water becomes murky, rinsing about three times.

Drain the rinsed rice and pour new water in to soak for 20 minutes.

After soaking for 30 minutes, drain the rice into a sieve and rinse it one last time.

Place the rinsed rice into the inner pot of the rice cooker.

Fill the rice pot with 2 and 1/2 cups of water, topping off the rice.

Place the inner pot into the rice cooker and start the cooking cycle.

The rice cooker will cook for 32 minutes before automatically switching to the warm setting.

Fluff the rice to release it from the bottom of the pot and close it back up to steam for 15 minutes.

After steaming for 15 minutes, the brown rice is ready to serve.
