Boil the smoked herring for about 10 minutes to remove excess salt.
Chop 4 medium tomatoes into small pieces.
Slice 1 small onion into chunks.
Grate 2 cloves of garlic.
Chop 1 hot pepper and set aside.
Remove the smoked herring from boiling water, cool, and shred it finely, removing any bones.
Heat olive oil in a pot until hot.
Add the chopped onion and grated garlic to the pot and sauté until softened.
Add the chopped tomatoes to the pot and stir well.
Cover the pot and let it cook for 2-3 minutes, checking occasionally.
Use a spoon to break down the tomatoes into smaller pieces as they cook.
Taste the mixture to check for saltiness and adjust if necessary.
Let the mixture cook until the tomatoes have melted down and everything is well combined.
