🥗Healthier: honey

💰Cheaper: brown sugar

Honey is a natural sweetener, while brown sugar is often less expensive.

1

Open the pack of Irish moss and empty it into a bowl.

2

Fill the bowl with water and rub the Irish moss with your fingertips to wash off the salt.

3

Drain the water and wash the Irish moss a couple of times to remove all salt.

4

Squeeze half of a lime or lemon juice into the bowl with the Irish moss and mix well.

5

Discard the lime/lemon and the water, then fill the bowl with more water to cover the Irish moss.

6

Soak the Irish moss for about 15 minutes (the longer, the softer it gets).

7

Transfer the soaked Irish moss to a pot and add water.

8

Place the pot on medium-low heat and allow it to come to a simmer.

9

Once simmering, the Irish moss will start breaking down; wait until it is translucent and soft.

10

Put the softened Irish moss into a blender and blend until smooth.

11

Let the blended mixture cool down before pouring it into a storage container.

12

To make the punch, use 1 cup of the Irish moss concentrate in a blender.

13

Add evaporated milk and whole milk (or almond/coconut milk for non-dairy).

14

Add sweetened condensed milk (optional), sugar, cinnamon, and freshly grated nutmeg.

15

Add Angostura aromatic bitters and blend until combined.

16

Pour the punch into a glass over ice or serve as is.
