1

In a bowl, add 370 g of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 110 g of sugar, and mix briefly with a spoon.

2

Grate 250 g of chilled butter into the flour mixture using a large grater, dusting with flour as needed.

3

Add 2 eggs to the mixture and knead the dough by hand or with a mixer until moist crumbs form.

4

Knead the dough briefly by hand until it is slightly sticky and moist.

5

Divide the dough into two parts, one slightly larger than the other. Wrap the smaller part in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for later use.

6

Press the larger piece of dough into a prepared baking dish, either by hand or rolling it out to fit the dish, dusting with flour as needed.

7

Chill the dough in the refrigerator for one hour.

8

Peel and grate 2 kg of apples using a large grater. Squeeze out excess juice from the grated apples, which can be consumed separately.

9

Sift 1 tablespoon of potato starch into the drained apples and mix well to combine.

10

Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the chilled dough in the baking dish.

11

Spread the grated apples evenly over the breadcrumbs.

12

Grate the second piece of dough from the freezer over the apples evenly.

13

Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for about 45-50 minutes, placing it on the lowest rack.

14

After baking, let the szarlotka cool before removing it from the baking dish and peeling off the parchment paper.

15

Dust the cooled szarlotka with powdered sugar before serving.
