Melt half a stick of butter in a heavy bottom enamel nonstick pan.
Add one star anise and a broken cinnamon stick to the pan.
Add one pack of vermicelli noodles and parch them over medium to low heat.
Add some nutmeg and cardamom powder to the noodles while parching.
Once the noodles are toasted, add about 1 cup of water to soften them.
After the water is mostly absorbed, add 3 cans of evaporated milk and stir.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla and mix well.
Let the mixture boil down to your desired consistency, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
Turn off the heat and add condensed milk to sweeten, adjusting to your taste preference.
Let it cool slightly before serving.
