1 tablespoon salt
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
pork shoulder blade butt roast (4+ pounds)

Prepare the sauce by mixing 1.5 cups Dr Pepper, 2 tablespoons minced garlic, 1 cup Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce, 3 tablespoons liquid smoke, and 2 tablespoons honey together in a bowl.

Prepare the seasoning for the pork by mixing 1 tablespoon onion powder, 2 tablespoons garlic powder, 2 tablespoons ground cumin, 2 tablespoons smoked paprika, 1 tablespoon salt, 3 tablespoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon black pepper in a bowl.

Trim any excess fat from the pork shoulder blade butt roast, which is a little over 4 pounds.
