Cut deep slits into the chicken pieces.

In a pot, add 4 glasses of water and the spices: bay leaves, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, salt, cumin, and black pepper.

Add 2 tablespoons of ginger garlic paste to the pot.

Add the chicken pieces to the pot and cover it for 10-12 minutes on low to medium heat to tenderize the chicken.

In a separate pan, heat 1/2 cup of oil and fry 2 sliced onions until soft but not too brown.

Add 5-6 green chilies and 1 tablespoon of biryani masala to the onions and sauté briefly.

Check the chicken; if tender, remove it from the pot.

Add the fried onions to the chicken broth in the pot.

Add 2 glasses of soaked basmati rice to the broth and cover until the water is absorbed.

Add yellow food color to the rice and cover to let it steam.

Grill the boiled chicken for 5-6 minutes to enhance color, or pan-fry if no oven is available.

Serve the rice garnished with fresh herbs and fried almonds, placing the chicken pieces on top.
