Salmon in a Bamboo Steamer

This technique preserves the fish's moisture and delicate flavor while allowing for the infusion of aromatics like ginger and garlic. The use of a bamboo steamer not only enhances the presentation but also adds a subtle earthy flavor. soy sauce

Prepare the bamboo steamer by soaking it in water for 30 minutes.
Place water in a pot and bring to a simmer.
Layer the bottom of the bamboo steamer with ginger slices.
Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper.
Place the seasoned salmon on top of the ginger in the steamer.
Sprinkle minced garlic and chopped green onions over the salmon.
Drizzle soy sauce and sesame oil over the salmon.
Cover the bamboo steamer with its lid.
Place the bamboo steamer over the simmering pot of water.
Steam the salmon for 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
Check for doneness; the salmon should flake easily with a fork.
Remove the bamboo steamer from heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
Serve the salmon garnished with lime wedges and cilantro.
