Dumplings are a popular dish in many cultures, often filled with various ingredients and cooked in different ways.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped vegetables (cabbage, carrots, mushrooms)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp ginger (grated)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. 1In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
  2. 2Gradually add water to the flour mixture, kneading until a smooth dough forms. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. 3In a separate bowl, mix the chopped vegetables, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic to create the filling.
  4. 4Divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball into a thin circle on a floured surface.
  5. 5Place a spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of each circle.
  6. 6Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
  7. 7Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Place the dumplings in the pan and fry until golden brown on one side (about 3-4 minutes).
  8. 8Add a splash of water to the pan and cover immediately to steam the dumplings for about 5 minutes.
  9. 9Remove the lid and cook for an additional 2 minutes to crisp up the bottom again.
  10. 10Serve hot with dipping sauce of your choice.
