Soak the glutinous rice in water for several hours or overnight.

Prepare the bamboo leaves by rinsing and soaking them to make them pliable.

Mix the pork belly with light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing rice wine, salt, white pepper, Chinese five-spice powder, ginger, and granulated sugar in a bowl.

Chop the shiitake mushrooms and add them to the pork mixture.

Lay out two bamboo leaves in a cross shape, with the shiny side facing down.
