Palusami is a traditional dish from Samoa, often enjoyed during special occasions and gatherings. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Wash the taro leaves thoroughly and pat dry.
In a bowl, mix coconut cream, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
Add lime juice and mix until well combined.
Layer a few taro leaves on a flat surface.
Place a portion of the coconut mixture in the center of the leaves.
Add a piece of fish (or meat) on top of the mixture.
Sprinkle chopped chili peppers over the fish.
Fold the taro leaves over the filling to create a parcel.
Wrap the parcel in banana leaves to secure it.
Place the wrapped parcels in a baking dish and add water to the bottom.
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45-60 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes.
Unwrap the parcels carefully and serve warm.
