Brush the bottom and sides of a 9x13 pan with melted butter.

Layer 6 sheets of filo dough, brushing each layer with melted butter.

Prepare the filling by pulsing together 5 ounces of walnuts, 5 ounces of pistachios, a generous pinch of salt, cardamom, cinnamon, and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar until coarse.

Spread half of the filling over the first 6 layers of filo dough.

Layer another 6 sheets of filo dough on top of the filling, brushing each with melted butter.

Place a final sheet of filo dough on top, brushing it with butter as well.

Score the baklava into diamond shapes using a sharp knife, cutting halfway down.

Bake in a 350°F oven for 32 to 34 minutes until golden brown.

Microwave honey for 30 seconds to 1 minute until warm, then drizzle over the baklava immediately after it comes out of the oven.

Let the baklava sit for 4 hours to soak up the honey.
