Cut both ends of the jiaotia and peel it with a knife or potato peeler.
Cut the jiaotia into 1.5 to 2 inch round slices.
Cut both ends of the yummy and cut it into 1.5 to 2 inch round slices after peeling.
Cut both ends of the yuka and cut it into three sections crosswise.
Peel the yuka with a sharp knife and cut it in half lengthwise to remove the inner root.
Soak the root vegetables in salt water for 5 to 10 minutes if desired.
Add sufficient water to the steamer, ensuring it remains below the steamer basket.
Insert the steamer basket and place the root vegetables inside.
Cover with a lid and steam the root vegetables for 30 to 45 minutes or until fork tender.
