Today, Kifle are cherished not only in Slovenia but have also found their way into various Central European cuisines, each with unique fillings and variations.

Homemade jam can be made with less sugar and fresh fruits.
Warm 1 cup of heavy cream and 1/4 cup of water in the microwave for 50 seconds until about 110 degrees.
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar to the warm mixture.
Stir in 4 1/2 teaspoons of active dry yeast and let it proof for 5 minutes until frothy.
In a saucepan, add 1 pound of dried apricots and cover with water, bring to a boil then simmer.
After 5 minutes, add 1 cup of granulated sugar to the apricots and simmer for 15 minutes.
In a bowl, mix 600 grams of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt.
Cut 2 sticks of cold unsalted butter into the flour mixture until it resembles pea-sized pieces.
Add the yeast mixture and 3 egg yolks to the flour and butter mixture, stir to combine.
Knead the dough in the bowl until cohesive, then cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Puree the apricot mixture using an immersion blender until smooth and let cool before using.
