Wattalappam is a traditional Sri Lankan dessert with roots in the Malay community, often enjoyed during festive occasions like Ramadan and Sinhala and Tamil New Year. This rich pudding, made from coconut milk and jaggery, reflects the island's tropical bounty and showcases the blending of cultures through its spices and flavors. Today, Wattalappam is beloved by many and is often served at celebrations, highlighting its significance in Sri Lankan culinary heritage.

Almond milk reduces calories while maintaining a creamy texture.
Take 1 cup of jaggery powder, 1 cup of coconut milk, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder in a bowl.
Mix well until the jaggery is fully dissolved and set this mixture aside.
In another bowl, add three eggs and whisk them thoroughly.
Combine the beaten eggs with the jaggery coconut milk mixture and mix until well blended.
Prepare your baking pan by greasing it with a little ghee.
Strain the coconut milk mixture through a sieve into the prepared pan to ensure a smooth texture.
Cover the pan with a lid or aluminum foil.
Steam it for about 30 minutes.
Once it is cooked, let it cool slightly.
Place a serving plate over the pan and gently flip it over.
Slice it and serve immediately.
