Start by measuring out 2 cups of medium grain rice.

In a large pot, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat.

Add 2 tablespoons of Sofrito to the pot and mix it with the oil until fragrant.

Add the black beans to the pot and mix everything together.

Wash the rice and add it to the pot, mixing it with the beans and Sofrito.

Pour in 2 cups of water and add natural sea salt to taste.

Stir everything together until well blended.

Let the mixture boil until the water has mostly evaporated and the texture changes.

Once the water has evaporated, lower the heat and cover the pot.

Let it cook covered for 10 minutes without stirring.

After 10 minutes, check the rice and stir it gently with a spoon.

If necessary, add a little more water to the pot and cover again for another 10 to 15 minutes.

Once done, the rice should be fluffy and soft.
