Mix warm milk with yeast and a pinch of sugar; let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture; stir until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions.
Roll each portion into a flat circle; sprinkle with cardamom, walnuts, and raisins.
Fold the dough over the filling and shape into a round loaf or braid.
Place the shaped breads on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Brush the tops with egg wash before baking.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
