Baked Tofu

Drain and rinse the tofu by cutting open the package and removing the tofu block.

Cut the block of tofu in half to create two equally thick pieces.

Squeeze out as much water as possible from the tofu by placing it on paper towels, covering it with more paper towels, and placing a heavy cutting board on top. Let it sit for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, remove the weight and paper towels from the tofu.

Cube the tofu into approximately 1-inch pieces.

Transfer the cubed tofu into a mixing bowl carefully to avoid breaking it.

Add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 tablespoon of corn starch, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce (tamari) to the bowl with the tofu.

Gently mix the tofu with the seasonings using a small silicone spatula, being careful not to break the tofu too much.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Transfer the seasoned tofu onto a sheet pan carefully, avoiding excess liquid from the bottom of the bowl.

Place the sheet pan in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

Halfway through the cooking time, check the tofu and toss it gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking.

After 25 minutes, check the tofu for doneness; it should have a crispy exterior and tender inside.

Garnish the baked tofu with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
