Olive oil is healthier while still providing flavor.
Husk the corn by removing the leaves and silk.
Add about 2 inches of water to the bottom of a large pot.
Turn the heat on high and bring the water to a boil.
Once boiling, place the corn in a steamer pan. If it doesn't fit, break the corn in half.
Cover the pot with a lid to steam the corn.
Steam the corn for about 6 to 9 minutes, checking for tenderness.
To check if the corn is done, pierce a kernel with a sharp knife; it should pierce easily.
Remove the cooked corn from the steamer and place additional corn in the pot if desired, ensuring the water is still boiling.
Steam the additional corn for another 7 to 8 minutes.
Serve the corn hot with butter and salt.
