Creamy Mushroom Sauce

1 teaspoon sunflower oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
1 small onion, finely chopped
400 grams button mushrooms, cleaned and stalks removed
4 teaspoons cream cheese
1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
3 slices of cheese
1/2 cup cream (optional)
1/2 cup warm milk (if needed)
finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Heat a pan or kadhai over medium flame and add 1 teaspoon sunflower oil and 1 tablespoon butter.

Add 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic and 1 small finely chopped onion to the pan.

Sauté the onion lightly without browning it.

Immediately add 400 grams of cleaned button mushrooms to the pan.

Cook for 10 minutes on medium flame.

After 10 minutes, remove the lid and add 4 teaspoons of cream cheese.

Mix well over medium flame.

Add 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder.

After a minute, add 3 slices of cheese (or 1/2 cup cream if not using cheese).

If the sauce is too thick, add 1/2 cup warm milk and mix well.

Turn off the flame and add finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish.

Serve the sauce in a bowl and sprinkle with finely chopped coriander leaves. Serve with bread, roti, or naan.
