Mix together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt, then set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter, vegetable oil, and granulated sugar at low speed until just incorporated, scraping down the edges of the bowl.
Add eggs one at a time at low speed, ensuring not to over mix to avoid a dense muffin.
Incorporate flavor enhancers like vanilla extract, lemon zest, and 1.5 tablespoons of lemon juice to brighten the flavor.
Add sour cream to the mixture for moisture and texture, then combine.
Gradually add the dry ingredients in three batches, mixing until just combined to achieve a cookie dough-like batter.
Fold in a mix of fresh and mashed blueberries along with some lemon zest, being careful not to over mix.
Refrigerate the batter for one hour to develop flavor and improve consistency.
Spray a 12-cup muffin tin with oil to prevent sticking.
Scoop the batter to the top of every other muffin cup to allow room for rising.
Sprinkle coarse granulated sugar on top of each muffin for a sweet crust.
Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (204°C) for 5 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 375°F (190°C) and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
Remove muffins from the pan immediately to prevent them from becoming soggy from trapped steam.
Let muffins cool on a wire rack before serving.
