Baked Sweet Potatoes

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wash the sweet potatoes under running water and scrub them to remove dirt.

Dry the sweet potatoes with a paper towel or kitchen towel.

Poke 4 to 5 holes in each sweet potato using a fork.

Rub a thin coat of olive oil on the skin of each sweet potato.

Sprinkle salt on the outside of the sweet potatoes if desired.

Place the sweet potatoes on a baking sheet uncovered.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the sweet potatoes.

Towards the end of baking, poke the sweet potatoes with a fork to check for doneness; they are ready if the fork slides in easily.

Once done, let the sweet potatoes cool for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Slice the sweet potatoes in half and use a kitchen towel to squeeze the ends to separate the meat from the skin.
